Peel-and-stick wallpaper sometimes gets a bad rap. But I’m here to tell you with a little patience and the right tools, you can get decent, professional-looking results!

Ever since we moved into our “forever home,” I’ve had grand plans for decorating my craft room, including an accent wall featuring a William Morris print. If you don’t know, I’m obsessed with all things William Morris! I’d wallpaper every room in his prints if I could, but I don’t think my husband would appreciate being attacked by Blackthorns, Strawberry Thieves, and Pimpernels from every angle. I can’t blame him — William Morris is an acquired taste!

Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper vs. Pasted Wallpaper

One year later (due to more pressing home renovations), I finally created my accent wall! I used NextWall peel-and-stick wallpaper in the William Morris Pimpernel print from Amazon. I chose this option instead of “authentic” William Morris & Co. wallpaper because it was, for me, the path of least resistance. The real stuff is an investment and, from what I’ve read, delicate to work with. While I’m all about DIY, I’d feel better hiring a professional to install it, but that’s not in the budget right now. However, I knew I could confidently tackle hanging peel-and-stick wallpaper after watching a few YouTube tutorials.

No doubt, the NextWall is not the best quality, but it’s a compromise I truly don’t regret. It’s budget-friendly (at only $60 per roll!), comes in equally beautiful colorways, is much easier to install (I only needed a smoothing tool and a box cutter to hang it), and got beautiful results! Also, knowing how often my taste fluctuates (there may come a day when I no longer feel Pimpernel vibes), I take comfort in knowing peel-and-stick wallpaper will be easy to remove!

Hanging Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper.

I needed three rolls of peel-and-stick wallpaper to cover a 12’x7′ wall, which took about 3-4 hours to install. The smoothing tool was my best friend for smoothing out air bubbles and used a box cutter to cut away excess wallpaper from the edges. In hindsight, I could have used a helping hand, but Dennis was at work, and I’m an impatient person. 😋 The first panel was a piece of cake to install, but, not going to lie, getting the pattern repeats along the edges to align perfectly with subsequent panels was a bit challenging. With a little patience, trial, and error, I made it work!

SPOILER ALERT: It’s not perfect. So don’t look too close! Thankfully, the busy pattern camouflages my mistakes well. Again, a helping hand would have been wise.

Conclusion.

Regardless, I’m so happy and, dare I say, a little obsessed with how it turned out. If you’re thinking about adding more personality to your favorite space, I can’t recommend this peel-and-stick wallpaper enough!  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to sit and stare at a wall for a while … quite literally!
