Bionic Gear Bag

Bionic Gear Bag

I needed a project bag to store my EPP (English Paper Piecing) projects, tools, and notions. After a quick Google search, I stumbled on the Bionic Gear Bag — a PDF sewing pattern by @ripstitcher. You can purchase and download via Etsy.

Now, let’s get real about the making process. This pattern was no walk in the park. I’ve sewn my fair share of project bags, but none have tested my sewing skills and patience like this one. I got very friendly with my seam ripper, and I’ll admit, if you look too closely, my craftsmanship is pretty janky! Alas, sometimes done is better than perfect. Am I right?

No shade to the designer — the pattern is super thorough with helpful photos. While I appreciate the light-hearted, colloquial instructions, I would’ve preferred them to be a bit more clear and concise. Honestly, at times, I felt like I was wading through walls of text trying to figure out what I actually needed to do. 😵‍💫

Despite the challenges, RipStitcher’s Bionic Gear Bag pattern was worth tackling. Warts and all, I’m in love with the finished product and know I’ll get a lot of use out of it!
